Nathan holds a baccalaureate in Biochemistry & Biophysics from the University of Oregon. His fascination with Genetic Code Expansion was ignited by work with non-canonical amino acids in an undergraduate teaching laboratory. Nathan is focused on directed evolution of orthogonal aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases to efficiently encode choice non-canonicals into protein structure.
