Donovan grew up near Portland, Oregon. After discovering his passion for biology and chemistry in high school, he began attending Oregon State University in Fall of 2021 as an undergraduate in Biochemistry/Biophysics and Bioengineering. He joined Professor Ryan Mehl’s Lab in May 2022 as an undergraduate researcher, primarily working on the chemical synthesis of tetrazine amino acids.
